Met regelmaat vertel ik wat over de oudere inmiddels al lang verteerde artiesten uit de jaren 20 en 30. De muzikanten die de meeste hedendaagse artiesten totaal overbodig maken. Maarrr, er zijn uitzonderingen! Zo zal ik af en toe ook iemand uitlichten die ik aanbeveel om naar te luisteren. Deze keer is dat Anders Landelius A.K.A Slidin' Slim.
Slidin' Slim staat bekend om zijn uitversterkte National en zijn krachtige stem. Vrijwel alles gespeeld in open G en D dus voor veel hier ook een inspiratiebron waar je, je slide licks mee kan uitbreiden. Met al vele albums op zijn naam en ontelbare optredens is hij al decennia lang een begrip in Zweden. En terecht!
Toen ik Slim ontmoette bij een van zijn concerten in Nederland begon gelijk onze vriendschap, een vriendschap die na al die jaren altijd sterk is gebleven (en dat op lange afstand..). In 2010 deden Slim en ik een tour in Zweden samen met Chicago blueszanger Tail Dragger. Ik kwam in die tijd al wat jaren bij Tail Dragger thuis en werkte veel met hem samen. Dus het leek ons leuk om gezamenlijk die tour te doen. We zijn heel Zweden door gereisd in een busje, van hotel naar hotel en onderweg heb ik hem uitgelegd dat zijn voornaam in Nederland "Different" is... Als afsluiting speelden we op het hoog aangeschreven Amãl blues fest waar Slidin' Slim inmiddels een veel terugkerende en gerespecteerde artiest is. Check him out!

THREE DECADES OF BLUES
Solo performers are a rare breed. For some the joy of playing together with other musicians is the fuel that keeps them going but for a selected few the real magic happens when you're alone on stage without any safety net at all. That's the way Slidin' Slim likes it.
For three decades Anders "Slidin' Slim" Landelius has performed in just about every European country there is as well as in the United States most of the time with just his trusted resophonic guitars as company.
Back in the early 90's when Slim surfaced on the Scandinavian blues scene his main influences were the legendary delta blues artists like Robert Johnson, Son House, Big Joe Williams, Charlie Patton among many others as well as more contemporary masters like John Hammond, John Mooney and Robert Lucas (R.I.P).
It didn't take long for Slim to establish himself as a major acoustic blues force to be reckoned with and during the last 25 years he has been the most frequently booked acoustic blues act on Swedish blues festivals and societies.
Time flies and three decades, thousands of gigs, several prestigious awards and a number of critically acclaimed records under his belt Slidin' Slim is still here doing what he loves the most; playing blues alone just like his heroes did back in the 30' and 40's.
